Zero-Carbon

As part of a new mixed-use neighbourhood of up to 3,000 homes in South Gloucestershire. ACA are working alongside two public authorities to prepare a feasibility study and options appraisal for a new Community Centre within the the largest element of the new neighbourhood. The area also includes places of employment, a primary school, children’s nursery, public open space and retail units.

Many Public & Local Authorities recognise the urgent need to establish clear targets for how new and existing buildings can reduce carbon emissions.

On this project ACA combined their deep knowledge of stakeholder engagement with experience in sustainable design, carbon reduction and renewable energy to assist the client in deciding not only the principles of the design, but also the appropriate method to achieve their environmental targets from the feasibility stage.

Workshops were held which helped to set key anchor points to respond to in the design, as well as broke down in plain (and financial) terms methods available to measure building performance and demonstrate compliance. In short, what achieving Net Zero Carbon would require from the project and client.

Our projects include the design of buildings for community groups and charities, affordable eco housing and hostels, low energy offices and commercial refurbishments.
